What is a medium?

"Die grundlegenste Definition ist wohl die des 'Dazwischen'. Zwischen Sender und Empfänger zum Beispiel der Kanal: Ein passiv technisches Werkzeug "Gerät" oder instrument für die - zumeist intentional ausgerichtet gedachte - Übertragung und Verbreitung von Information." (Meyer 2008: 75)

"Das Medium, in dem Boris Becker drin zu sein glaubt, könnte man denken in einer Weise, wie man sagt, Fische Leben im Medium Wasser. Medium wäre dann - wie in physikalischen oder chemischen Kontexten - zu verstehen als eine Art Träger oder Stoff, in dem sich bestimmte Vorgänge abspielen (Luft als Träger von Schallwellen oder als Stoff, in dem bestimmte chemische Prozesse ablaufen). The Medium in which Boris Becker belives to be in, could be thought of in a way like the fish living in the medium water. The medium will be - like in physical or chemical context - understood as a kind of carrier or substance, in which certain procedures happen (the air as a carrier of acoustic wave or as a substance, in which ceriain chemical processes are running). Medium as a historical Apriori
Medium refers to culture in a communicative and social Process. The culture is a set of terms and conditions and it is depending on a mediator and the statement of the medium; traditionally meaning of a medium. The human beeing is socialised by the media.--Marta litke 15:48, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

A medium can be understand as a milieu in witch we are living. Virtual shopping, virtual friends and virtual life makes us sure that we are living. But when the combuter is shut down we feel emptiness inside. The medium transmit data, informations and help to communicate.
